HCP Management Consultants specialises in the service and delivery of strategically aligned management consulting services. Offering a ‘whole of business solution’, our charter is encapsulated in our business philosophy: To work with our clients as business partners, to impart our skills and knowledge and to develop business solutions that are owned and implemented from within.
Our firm consists of a core group of highly experienced and qualified professionals. With access to a network of independent consultants, and alliance partners who are also specialists in their own field, we are able to provide a breadth of services, from strategy formulation through to the implementation and delivery of results.
In conjunction with the Strategic Management Institute (SMI), our Value Proposition: Better strategy, better results: Strategy; Formulation, to Implementation, Business Improvement, Education, Certification, Facilitation, Research, Recruitment and Coaching : Contributors to: “Business Excellence”

Optimising Strategy
Every organisation has a strategy, most strategy could be better communicated, but is often formalised in written documentation, although once presented, they rarely see the light of day. 72% of strategies (SMI research) could be implemented more effectively.
HCP provides value to its clients through assistance with
- Development of better strategy: HCP takes a systems approach to strategic management, seeking the trade off between deliberate (formal) and emerging strategy. In most cases we are able to improve strategy content; sometimes as a result of our broader, but fresh ‘external’ perspective; sometimes as a result of our identification of ‘gaps’ in strategy; on other occasions we have been able to avert strategy that was simply bad.
- Articulation of strategy: While the CEO is usually the primary ‘holder’ of the firms strategy other senior executives are usually the next best informed. All too often we find that one executive’s interpretation of strategy is different to others, both from a content perspective, and from a process perspective (e.g. what we will do, how did we decide to do it?) HCP conducts interviews, facilitates workshops and acts as a medium between executives and often Board members to better define and articulate strategy, and as a result, quite often improve it.
- Documentation of Strategy: As prolific researchers and writers, HCP and our research and education group, the SMI know that unwritten thoughts and perceptions will vary significantly when the owners are asked to articulate them in another format. The most obvious of formats is the written document. We have also found that physical modelling (e.g. Lego bricks/ clay) is a useful way for teams to explore strategy and extract highly creative, truly innovative solutions to ‘wicked’ strategic problems.
- Implementation of Strategy: HCP’s strategy execution mechanism, the Pathway to Implementation uses a balanced scorecard as a centre piece to help us and our clients to understand what, how and when things need to be done. We also assist with the physical implementation, providing a change management role and/or specialist skills to deliver the required results.

In recognition of this commitment, HCP will not provide its services to organisations that do not respect the principles of sustainability. At all times we will work within the confines of our own Sustainability Charter . This says that HCP will:

- whenever possible, demonstrate that we recognise the importance of the environment to the community’s well being
- consciously acknowledge that we are all dependent upon natural systems, resources and processes
- demonstrate our support for a commitment to help reverse, where possible, adverse environmental trends.
- acknowledge that humans share the environment with many other non-human species
- recognise that we must change accepted habits to find more sustainable ways
- acknowledge that we must strive to improve our understanding of our society and its interaction with the natural environment.
Our commitment to the community
As a knowledge based organisation, we will seek to return to the community the learning and knowledge it has provided to us. We will therefore, strive to provide support and resources to learning institutions that provide management education programs. In particular, we will seek opportunities to research and develop contemporary management theory, ideally in collaboration with our clients and academic institutions.
